Rural Development and Youth Association (RUDEYA) was formed in 1989 and registered with the Registrar General's Department and the Department of Social Welfare on 25th September and 29th November 1991 respectively as a Non Governmental Organization .


The vision of RUDEYA is that the standard of living of all segments of society will be improved through sustainable natural resource management and primary health care.


The Association's mission is to provide all segments of society, especially the youth, with the knowledge and means of managing natural resources on sustainable basis, and accessing quality primary health care services to improve their quality of life.

Geographical Areas of Operation

RUDEYA has over the past 15 years operating in the Ashanti , western, and Brong Ahafo Regions of Ghana. Important forest districts to mention are Goaso and Nkawie.

The Organization structure

The organization is governed by Board of Directors which is headed by the President of the Organization. The Board consists of seven (4 women and 3 men) professionals with different backgrounds, covering all the organizational needs. The Board meets four times in a year and is responsible for policy formulation, drawing up specific strategies and makes all major decisions concerning the organization. They provide advisory services to the management team of Rudeya. The Board meets the staff and the target groups twice in a year to gather first hand information about RUDEYA's programmes.

Management Team

The management team comprises the President of RUDEYA, Executive Director, Programmes coordinator, and treasurer. The management team is the standing committee for the Board of Directors. The general overseer of RUDEYA is the Executive Director. The Executive Director represents the organization on all legal matters or contracts and executes management decisions on the advice of the Board of Directors and management team. RUDEYA has a Programmes Coordinator who is responsible for Programmes coordination planning, monitoring and evaluation.

Currently, RUDEYA has paid staff strength of 12 professionals with varied backgrounds in primary health care, forestry, agriculture, community development, accountancy, development planning and project management, who form multi-disciplinary team. In addition, RUDEYA engages the services of experienced professionals as resource persons when the need arises.
